Special thanks to the pianist at Sunday, Dec 18th, 2011 auditions for “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” at the Malthouse Theatre in Burlington, WI. This is a simple 30 minute drawing of the skilled teacher and musician.

It has been a while. Sad. This is the cleanest the studio has been and the most progress I have made in a while on a work… a major painting. Don’t get me wrong – lots of preliminary ideas, sketching, drawings in charcoal and the like, but to be back to oils… smells good to me. (I do love the smell of oils in the morning.) – Frank

Caitlin Painting Jan 13 2011

Caitlin and the rest of her Art Foundations class are painting a masterpiece work. The Advanced Drawing course I teach is currently working on cardboard using vine charcoal and gesso as their mediums. This drawing is a brief drawing of one student lost in her work. I love to draw these pieces – and she was happy with the gift.

While my cruise to the Caribbean was cold and windy – brrrrr – I still had a wonderful time talking with, meeting, and drawing many people. Only one of these drawings remained in my sketchbook and most walked away from this vacation with a wonderful memory and drawing. Thank you to all who sat for me, knowingly or unknowingly, and making it a memorable experience for me also. Hope at the Dr.’s Office

While I was patiently waiting to have my daughter’s ears checked, this young dad was also waiting to have his even smaller daughter looked at in the pediatrician’s office. What a good sight to see, a young father taking such good care of his little baby. She was adorable in her oink shirt and outfit. The family is a strong and important part of any young girl’s (child’s) life and this dad was sure to be a major part of it. Mom was in very shortly after, and the drawing was given to them. A very appreciative couple. Good luck with that one, mine is a bit more grown up and, while we love her as much, it isn’t always as easy as taking them to the doctor’s office.
